Big Weekend for Varsity Lacrosse

This weekend saw two games against tough opponents for Christ School Lacrosse and CSBN's first ever live broadcast of Greenies Lacrosse. With a new press box built on the outside of the track at the lacrosse field, the opportunity to showcase the growth in the program was taken to a new level.

On Friday, the Greenies hosted John Carroll School (MD). A perennial power in the northeast and Coach Miles' alma mater, the team fought their way to a 9-8 victory. Lead by senior Hunter Vines, the Greenies headed to half time tied at five after surrendering two quick goals in the opening minutes.

A chippy second half had both teams fighting hard for victory, but Vines' sixth and final goal sealed the deal. The defense led by 13 saves from Beau Hecimovich '20 was incredible as well.

On Saturday, for the second consecutive year, the Greenies played in the Stickwithus Champions Challenge to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. This year, they faced Salesianum out of Delaware. Though they are one of the top 50 teams in the country, the Greenies jumped on them early, leading 8-5 at the end of three quarters. Unfortunately, some untimely penalties saw Salesianum come back to win 9-8. Though they lost, Head Coach Jeff Miles was impressed and pleased with his team. "We played probably the best three quarters we have played all season. Though the game didn't end with the score we wanted, I am pleased with our effort."

The Greenies, now 8-2, will host Charlotte Catholic at 5:30PM on Tuesday, April 10.
