Who do I notify if my son is sick or has a doctor appointment?

If your son will be absent or tardy, please enter the appropriate “Appointment/Sick Leave – Sick home” pass in Orah.  If you are unable to access your Orah account, please email studentlife@christschool.org, contact Kim Murphy at kmurphy@christschool.org and/or Drew Hyche at dhyche@christschool.org, or call (828) 684-6232 ext. 100/181. If your son is a boarder and he becomes sick, he should check in with the Wellness Center.

What is the AOD?

AOD stands for Administrator on Duty. The position rotates between a handful of administrators who are the main point of contact for the school outside of office hours. The AOD can always be reached at 828-242-8114. Students should call the AOD any time they leave campus.

What form does my boarding son need to fill out prior to a school break?

Prior to any break or weekend off campus, students have to complete the leave request process using Orah. To find out more about the Orah system, reference this email and direct any questions to the Student Life Office (studentlife@christschool.org).

Where can I find a list of student activities available to the boys?

The Student Activities Office plans a range of events and trips for students that range from concerts to movies. View what's available each week at this link.

What is the school dress code?

Is there laundry service on campus?

Dorms are equipped with washers and dryers available to students. Additional dry cleaning and laundry services are provided by Varsity Dry Cleaners. Students should visit the Student Life Office to set up a Varsity Dry Cleaners account.

How do I set up an allowance for my son?

Contact Kim Murphy (kmurphy@christschool.org) to set up an allowance for your son.

My son is now driving and has a car that we’d like him to keep on campus. What do we do?

Contact Drew Hyche (dhyche@christschool.org) to arrange a parking space for your son’s vehicle. The Student Life Office manages and coordinates all students vehicles.

My son is coming home on a break – does the school provide any transportation to my area?

The school provides shuttles to many locations throughout the Southeast for a fee for our scheduled breaks.  We also provide transportation to the GSP and CLT airports for a fee. Shuttles to Asheville Airport (AVL) are free. You can find shuttle information at this link or on the Resource Board in your OnCampus account under "Shuttle Reservation.”  To reserve a spot on a shuttle, please enter your shuttle destination on your Orah pass and copy your son. If you’re reserving an airport shuttle, please include a copy of the flight itinerary in Orah or email the itinerary to studentlife@christschool.org. If you have any questions, please email Kim Murphy (kmurphy@christschool.org).

Where can I see the dining hall menu options?

You can view the dining menu by downloading the Touch of Sage app on your phone. Either log in or register for a new account and select Christ School (zip code 28704) as your location. iPhone users can download the app here and Android users can follow this link.

Where can my son refresh his toiletries and other items?

Boys can purchase toiletries and other items from the school bookstore. Another option is for the boys to take the weekend trips to Target and Walmart, which are offered nearly every weekend through Student Activities.

I’m not receiving the Weekly Parent Email Newsletter – how do I sign up?

Every current parent receives the Weekly Parent Email Newsletter. If you aren’t receiving it, check the Spam or Promotions folder in your email browser to ensure the newsletter isn’t getting misplaced by a filter. If you find the email in either of those folders, right click and send the email to your primary inbox. If you don’t find the email in those folders, please email cscommunications@christschool.org or call Graylyn Loomis, Director of Communications at 828-684-6232 ext. 101.

How can I meet other parents and/or volunteer at Christ School events ?

The Parent Council is a group that supports and provides resources for current Christ School parents. The Parent Council also volunteers their time at various school events, ensuring a great experience for students. How do I log in to OnCampus, and what is OnCampus used for?

You can log into OnCampus using this link. OnCampus allows students to plan their schedule, keep track of grades, and keep an eye on the school calendar. The web-based system also allows parents to track their son’s progress from home and gives them quick access to teachers and advisors. If it is your first time logging in to OnCampus or if you forgot your password, follow this link.

What events do I need to attend throughout the year as a parent?

Please check the online school calendar (available here) or the parent calendar available in OnCampus. Both of those resources mirror each other and display all key events throughout the school year. Generally, parents should attend Registration Weekend, Father/Mother-Son Weekend, Homecoming and Family Weekend, the Christ School Auction (a biennial event), and Graduation.

Where should I stay when visiting Christ School and Asheville?

Check this web page where we outline suggested hotels in Asheville and near school. Depending on the time of year, Asheville can be very busy, so we recommend booking far in advance in those seasons (particularly September and October).

What college guidance resources are available for parents?

In addition to the office’s College Guidance Handbook where you will find answers to most of your questions, the College Guidance Office is always available for advice or questions (If you have questions about College Guidance, reach out to Kirk Blackard, Director (kblackard@christschool.org) or Tracy Weldon, Associate Director (tweldon@christschool.org). Every parent and student is a member of the College Guidance Group in OnCampus, which includes additional resources.

Where can I give to Christ School?

You can give to Christ School online or by contacting the Advancement Department directly (advancement@christschool.org or 828-684-6232 ext. 103).

How can I purchase items from the school store?

You can place an order from the Bookstore in person (it’s located in the Patrick Beaver Student Center), over the phone (828-684-6232 ext. 133), or in the online store. The Bookstore carries everything from school supplies to Christ School clothing, mementos, and more. (Note that the online bookstore carries a limited selection from what's available in the physical store.)

You can change your mailing and email addresses in Account Settings in OnCampus, or you can contact Kim Murphy (kmurphy@christschool.org) directly.

How can I pay tuition and my accounts at the school?

For any accounts or tuition-related payments or questions, contact Lane Shelton (lshelton@christschool.org) in the Business Office. (Note that credit card payments aren't accepted for tuition.)

How can I get more involved and connected to Christ School as a parent?

The Parent Council has many different ways to volunteer, come to campus, or help from afar throughout the year. As a parent or guardian, you are automatically a member of the Council.
