Greenies take down Cannon School, 34-6

With an injury to All-State running back Sidney Gibbs '19, Christ School took some time to get going against visiting Cannon School on Friday night. Locked in a stalemate through one and a half quarters, the Greenies were rescued by Kaedin Robinson '19, who rushed for a six-yard touchdown. With a Henry Duggins '19 kick, Christ School led 7-0 heading into the halftime break.

Defensively, the Greenies were solid behind the play of linebackers West Shuler '19, Jasper Thomas '20, and Read Sunn '20. The three combined to lock down the middle of the field in the first half, but the play of Ross Oakley '19, Ian Adams '21, and Kiki Alcime '21 helped the Greenies keep the Cougars off the scoreboard.

To start the half, Christ School was helped by a muffed punt after a three and out by the Cougars and Navy Shuler '19 and Robinson connected for an eight yard touchdown to give the Greenies a 14-point lead with 9:00 remaining in the 3rd. Just minutes later, Robinson scored an acrobatic touchdown over the middle, his third of the game, to make the score 21-0.

A 70-yard kick return by Keyvaun Cobb '19 set up the Greenies for their next score as he finished with a score of his own two plays later on a 15-yard pass from Shuler. In the fourth, Shuler and Robinson would connect for a 55-yard score, their third touchdown of the game.

Christ School went on to win 34-6 and move to 2-1 on the season. The Greenies will play their third consecutive game at home next Friday, this one against Robbinsville High School at 7:30 PM. The Greenies have defeated Robbinsville each of the last two seasons, but the Knights come into this game 2-0. The game will not be broadcast on CSBN as it will be on local television (WMYA-TV 40).
