JV Basketball Defeats Legacy, 47-33
In her first game as JV Basketball Head Coach, Mallary Clay saw her boys take a leap by defeating a highly-touted Legacy Charter team, 47-33. "For the first game, we played well. We still have a lot to work on, but the team handled the pressure well and rebounded relentlessly." Among those who handled the pressure was Zach Myers '23 and Tony Murphy '23. The two starting guards for the Greenies are just eighth graders, but you wouldn't have guessed it with how they where able to maneuver around the Legacy press.
Myers would lead the way for the Greenies with 19 points, but it was the play of Ben Wiznitzer '22 and Jack Knott '20 on the glass that truly impressed. Both Wiznitzer and Knott had 10+ rebounds and made it difficult for Legacy to get any second chance opportunities. Sam White '22 contributed with a couple threes of his own and Henry Muller '20 and Ty Besses '23 showed hustle as well, and the Greenies took a five point lead at the end of the third quarter and stretched it to 14 by the end of the game.
The JV squad will play at home upon their return from break on November 27th against Oakbrook Prep and on the road on Friday against Carolina Day.
