Varsity Baseball Handed First Loss 7-4
On Tuesday, March 27, the Greenies, who were ranked #1 in the NCISAA by MaxPreps, hosted Charlotte Country Day School. With Chad Treadway '19 on the mound, the Bucs got off to a good start, plating four runs in the first inning.
Christ School tied things up in the third inning with a Parker Johnson '21 lead off double. Max LeCroy '19 knocked him in before eventually scoring on a wild pitch. McKinley Bell '18 walked and Jackson Hipp '18 singled before a Treadway single scored Bell. Jackson Hipp later scored on a double steal.
For the next, three innings, both teams struggled to get anything going as Treadway settled in, striking out eight on the game.
After a 1, 2, 3 inning with Mac Gortney '19 on the mound, Charlotte Country Day pushed three runners across the plate in the top of seventh. In the bottom of the seventh, the Greenies got two runners on base before a near home run turned into a fly out that ended the game.
The Greenies moved to 5-1 on the season.
