A state championship season speaks for itself. Until the awards say it even louder.

The Asheville Citizen-Times released its All-Western North Carolina Basketball Team on Thursday.

Christ School’s Josh Coley has been named the newspaper’s All-WNC Coach of the Year for leading the Greenies (31-4) to the NCISAA 4-A championship in just his second season. Coach Coley joins David Gaines '84 (2011) as the only coaches in the 100-year history of Christ School's basketball program to win the All-WNC award.

All five starters from this season's Greenies received first or second-team recognition. They are: Emanuel Richards ’23, Anthony Robinson ’23, Keenan Wilkins ’24, Bryson Cokley ’24, and Jamari Briggs ’24.

Christ School completed its season with a 53-48 win over Carmel Christian on Feb. 25. The Greenies played the toughest schedule in the area, which included games against two other state champions – Dorman (S.C.) and St. Isidore Newman (La.).

The Citizen-Times covers more than 30 private and public high schools in the western-most part of North Carolina.
