Frank Howden ’22 repeated as a conference champion in the 100-yard breaststroke and set a Carolinas Athletic Association swim meet record in the process Wednesday.
The Christ School sophomore skimmed through the water of Ambler Pool for a time of 1 minute, 3.03 seconds. Asheville School’s Tucker Valliere (1:03.13) was the runner-up and the former CAA record (1:03.97) had been set three years ago by another Blues’ swimmer, Joshua Wong.
Additionally, Frank was second in Wednesday’s 200-yard individual medley (2:05.31) and swam a leg on the Greenies’ second-place 400-yard freestyle relay (3:40.88). The time was a personal record for the team which also included Daniel Du ‘22, Aidan Galpin ‘21, and Sam Jarrett ‘22.
Christ School placed third in the five-school CAA meet with 85.5 points behind overall champion and host Asheville School (210 points), and second-place Asheville Christian Academy (88.5 points).
More individual highlights were that Daniel was the runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.41), one spot ahead of Colin Brazas ‘22 (1:03.99). Other top-five finishes for the Greenies were recorded by the medley relay (fourth, 1:51.27), Colin (200-yard individual medley, 2:22.50), Sam (100-yard butterfly, 1:01.46), Daniel (100-yard butterfly, 53.95), 200-yard freestyle relay (fourth, 1:43.57), and Grayson Scott ‘21 (100-yard breaststroke, 1:08.28).
