CJ AuBuchon ’26 is already on the radar of the best of the best in college baseball.
Reigning College World Series champion Mississippi State has made an early offer to the Christ School eighth grader, who said over the weekend that he has accepted.
Greenie coach Wesley King is looking forward to seeing CJ grow as a player and person at Christ School.
“CJ has put himself in this position because of his work ethic, grit, and focus on doing things right, on and off the field year-round,” Coach King said.
“He is also a tremendous student and a positive influence on our campus. Our baseball staff is looking forward to continuing to help CJ improve and be his best over these next five years.”
CJ’s hometown is Asheville, but he stays on the go, whether it be workouts or tournaments with the Canes Baseball 14 and under national showcase team.
Perfect Game is widely regarded as the top scouting service for high school baseball and has rated CJ as North Carolina’s No. 1 left-handed pitcher from the Class of 2026 and eighth nationally.
The first official day of practice for Greenie baseball is February 14.
Mississippi State has appeared in the College World Series a dozen times, winning its first national championship last year. The Bulldogs’ support is legendary, too, having played to nine of the 10 largest on-campus crowds in NCAA history, including 14,385 for a Super Regional game against Notre Dame last June.
