KERNERSVILLE – Christ School was the third-place team in the NCRunners Elite Cross Country Invitational held on a soggy Saturday morning at the Ivey Redmon Sports Complex.
It was the team’s final tune-up before next Wednesday’s Carolinas Athletic Association Championship meet, followed by the NCISAA 4-A state meet the week after that.
Duke University recruit Dawson Reeves ’24 won individually Saturday (16:00.16) by just under two seconds, fending off 2022 NCHSAA 3-A state champion Gabriel Schmid from Orange (16:02.08) and every other challenger. Eyob Gill ’24 (fifth place, 16:25.85), Luke Parrish ’24 (21st, 17:09.87), Dallas Reeves ’27 (24th, 17:16.79), and Patrick Wang ’24 (48th, 18:06.54) also counted towards Christ School’s score of 86 points.
Croatan (67) was the overall team winner and Orange (78) came in second place. Croatan is the defending 3-A state champion for the public schools, while Christ School is the two-time reigning state champ in NCISAA 4-A.
