So much for easing into a new season.
Christ School lacrosse has set the standard of competing for state championships, year-in and year-out. The Greenies will have a much better idea of where they fit into this spring’s NCISAA Division I picture when they travel to Cannon School on Tuesday.
A 6 p.m. game in Concord represents the season opener for both programs and is a rematch of last year’s state-championship game (won by Cannon, 14-9).
In all, Christ School and first-year coach Patrick Haley have 15 games on the schedule for this season, including out-of-state trips to Georgia, South Carolina, and Virginia.
The NCISAA playoffs begin May 9 and the Greenies have been in a state-championship game every year since 2016.
Seniors on the roster include Christian Hudson ’23, Steven Hernandez ’23, Bill Young ’23, Aiden Schook ’23, Jack Staley ’23, Brighton Shook ’23, JD Steven ’23, Tidiane Gakou ’23, and Jack Shimer ’23.
Christian (32 goals, 12 assists) and Aiden (30 goals, six assists) both scored more than 30 goals a year ago.
Lucas Little ’24 made 119 saves in his first year as Christ School’s goalkeeper and Carter Sherwood ’25 won 136 faceoffs.
