SWANNANOA - Put Lleyton Thomas-Johnson ’24 in a gym full of his peers and he stands out.
It’s been that way the past two years at Christ School. It held true again in Saturday’s WNC All-Star Game, presented by Rankings Report.
Lleyton was named the game’s Most Valuable Player, which came with it a $500 scholarship from sponsor A-American Electric Inc. Lleyton led everyone in points (29) and rebounds (11), allowing the Red team to win the game at Warren Wilson College, 119-101.
Lleyton is a 6-foot-4, guard/wing from Asheville who has committed to play college basketball for Washington University in St. Louis. He was named to the NCISAA 4-A all-state team and All-Carolinas Athletic Association team this past season after averaging 6.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game for the 4-A state champion Greenies (26-5).
Lleyton was selected to this month’s N.C. Private School All-Star Game in Charlotte, too, but was unable to play due to being part of Christ School’s Spring Break trip to The Bahamas.
Greenie point guard Keenan Wilkins ’24 also played well in Saturday’s all-star game for the Blue team. Being on opposite teams as Lleyton allowed the two to even guard one another at points in the all-star game.
