For the third time in his career, Christ School alumnus Mason Plumlee ‘09 has been chosen to represent his country in an international basketball competition.

Team USA’s 12-man roster for the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup was finalized Saturday. The World Cup begins August 31 and lasts through September 15 in China.

Plumlee, 29, was a member of the United States national team that won the gold medal in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup. The 6-foot-11 center/power forward also won silver with Team USA at the 2008 FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship.

Plumlee was the first-ever McDonald’s All-American in Christ School’s history and led the Greenies to three NCISAA state championships. He and two brothers, Miles ’08 and Marshall ’11, went on to play college basketball for Duke University. Mason was selected with the 22nd overall pick by the Brooklyn Nets in the 2013 NBA draft. He has been with the Denver Nuggets since 2016.
