Plumlee Camp Grows Significantly in Second Year

Marshall Plumlee ’11 came ready to mix it up with a gym full of campers Sunday morning.

And he did, playfully grinning as he engaged as many of the youth as possible in a shootaround to open the Plumlee Basketball Camp.

The overnight camp runs through Wednesday with the first family of Christ School basketball represented by Marshall ’11 and Mason ’09 – who were McDonald’s All-Americans and multi-state champions as Greenies before going on to Duke University and later the NBA – and their parents, Perky P'08, P'09, P'11 and Leslie P'08, P'09, P'11.

Marshall stepped back into the Greenie Dome one month to the day since receiving his master’s degree from Harvard Business School. He retired from professional basketball in 2018 and has since gone on to graduate from Harvard and U.S. Army Ranger School, with his story being widely picked up by national media.

Marshall was unable to be part of the inaugural Plumlee Basketball Camp in 2023 and that is not all that is different this year. The number of campers has increased from 75 to 100 and there are now 18 counselors, up significantly from 11 in 2023.

Included on the staff are Christ School alumni Dee Giger ‘09 and Matt Cioce ‘13. There will be additional help later in the camp from current Greenie coaches and players.
