Reeves Cates ’24 has always been a student of his sport, aware of soccer’s incredible reach to every corner of the world.
He’ll have an even greater appreciation for this after a year of living, training, and playing abroad.
Reeves has accepted one of 40 spots with the ETURE Sports gap-year program in Valencia, Spain, with the hopes of using the time away as a springboard to college soccer after that.
The ETURE gap-year program has produced more than 45 NCAA Division I level players in the U.S. and more than 65 NCAA players total the past three years. Reeves will report overseas on Aug. 1 and maintain all four years of his college eligibility by playing for ETURE.
Reeves is from Pinehurst, N.C., and has been a four-year varsity player for Christ School. He was a midfielder and senior captain for the 2023 team. Reeves is a Proctor in Cuningham House.
