Announcing Christ School's New Dining Hall
& Two Faculty Cottages - 2016
We are pleased to announce that Christ School will be building a new Dining Hall as well as two new faculty cottages. The Dining Hall project will begin January 2015 and is expected to be completed early 2016. Project details include:
- The existing Dining Hall will remain functional throughout the academic year. All meals will be served from the kitchen and in the building. Staging of the construction project allows that we use the existing facility with minor inconveniences. During the summer months, the kitchen will be offline and Christ School camp attendees will be fed from a temporary facility in the adjacent parking lot.
- The new Dining Hall will allow for the entire Christ School community to come together for a shared meal (seating capacity 320), something we're unable to do with the existing facility. In addition, there will be a two-sided, functional fireplace for indoor use and outdoor fire pits for the students to enjoy. A private dining room will be available for student group meals, alumni and parent functions.
- Note from the above rendering the emphasis on outdoor space. This is specifically designed for the space to be readily used by students for everyday use, as well as space intended to meet the needs of groups before, during, and after football games.
The construction of new faculty homes, Young Cottage and Grace Cottage, thanks to the generosity of Jena and Steve Young '82 and to Laura and Mike Grace P'15 are much needed. Designed for families with two or three children, these four-bedroom homes will allow the school to attract and retain talented veteran faculty. Current housing options are limited to two and three bedroom apartments and cottages.
The good news for the above projects is that each is either fully funded, as in the case of the cottages, or near fully funded, as is the case with the Dining Hall. The generosity of our alumni and parents makes these projects a reality and we are grateful for their faithful support. Toward that end, there remain a few naming opportunities within the Dining Hall project, should you have an interest in helping us fully fund the project.
Those of us engaged with Christ School at this point in the school's history enjoy a time of unprecedented clarity of purpose. With healthy enrollment and sound philanthropic support, Christ School advances and claims its place among the finest boarding schools in the country. Thank you for the role that you play in our community. We look forward to celebrating completion of these projects and will invite you to join us when we do so.
