Kyle Luce to Play Tennis at Millsaps College

As the winter snow melts and the temperature rises slightly, we begin to shift away from the Indoor sports. With the wrestling and basketball seasons coming to an end, we apprehensively head out in to the Western North Carolina wind to watch Lacrosse, Baseball, Golf, Track and Tennis. Yet, the same excitement we have for increasing appearances of sunshine, Kyle Luce has for his announcement to play tennis next year at Millsaps College.

Millsaps College, located in Jackson, Mississippi has an excellent tennis program, one that finished 16-4 last season. When asked why he chose Millsaps, Luce said “Playing college tennis has been a dream of mine since I was little, so I am so happy that my dream is coming true. I am choosing Millsaps because I really felt a connection to the other guys on the team. The team dynamic is a very important thing in tennis and Millsaps had the best team chemistry of any that I had visited. One of the things that stuck me most about Millsaps was that it has a lot of similarities to Christ School, I have loved my time here so finding someplace with similar characteristics just made it feel like the right fit.”

He cites the Millsaps College coaching staff as a large pull towards to the school. “I am extremely excited about the coaches that I will have at Millsaps. Coaches Box and Pjevac do a great job connection with their players and are dedicated to the development of the whole person. I am also excited to continue my education at Millsaps which boasts a strong political science department and a strong Latin American studies program. Political Science is my intended major so finding a college with a strong political science department was important to me.”

Luce, has participated in nearly every varsity tennis match since arriving to Christ School during his sophomore year and has been a starter since. He won most improved at the completion of his sophomore moving from #6 to #3 last season. With the #1-2 players having since graduating Luce looks to take on a greater leadership role with the goal of leading the team to the playoffs.

With just one season before graduation, Luce is ready for a great final semester, but wants to recognize those who have an impact on his career. “I want to thank Christ coaches Vaughn and Daubert and my club coaches Hector and Paul. My teammates have been incredibly supportive as well. But more than anything, I would like to thank my parents.
