Christ School Basketball Hosts 3A Opponents this Weekend

This weekend in the Greenie Dome, Christ School Varsity Basketball will host High Point Christian Academy (Friday at 7:00 p.m.) and Providence Day School (Saturday at 1:00 p.m.). Christ School comes into these games at 9-7, having most recently defeated Greene Central 66-60 at the John Wall Holiday Invitational over break.

Head Coach Jeff Depelteau understands the importance of this weekend. "It is huge to get a few 3A games under our belts, as it's imperative to our playoff seeding. We've had a goal all season of earning a home playoff game and potentially getting a bye in the state tournament. These two games against High Point and Providence Day not only help with those goals, but are a fantastic warm up for conference play. We have won the conference the past two years, and we want to continue to be atop the CAA." The Greenies are on the road against Asheville Christian Academy (8-4) and Asheville School (6-3) next Tuesday and Friday.

High Point Christian Academy comes into Friday's game at 6-5, having defeated 3A opponents North Raleigh Christian Academy and Cannon School. The Greenies have not played High Point Christian since the 15-16 season, when they lost to High Point Christian and now-Miami Heat player Bam Adebayo in the NCISAA State Quarterfinals.

Providence Day School (Saturday, 1:00 p.m.) comes into the game at 14-5. Providence Day will be playing its fourth 3A game of the year. They previously defeated South Lake Christian and Gaston Day, and fell to Greensboro Day by just two.

Prior to the Christ School/Providence Day game, the Providence Day girls will play Rabun Gap's girls at 11:30 a.m. The High Point Christian Academy boys will face Rabun Gap-Nacoochee at 2:30 p.m.
