Varsity Basketball picked up two more wins this weekend, moving to 14-7 on the season, after defeating Asheville School and Knoxville Christian.
On Friday, the Greenies defeated Asheville School, 73-65 to move to 4-0 in the conference and first overall. The Greenies were led by a balanced scoring attack with Kojack Thompson '19 finishing with 15 points and 11 assists. When asked what contributed to the team's win, Head Coach Jeff Depelteau mentioned Peter Lash '20 and Gabe Wiznitzer '21. "Lash registered his first double-double as a Greenie (11 points, 11 rebounds), and his hustle kept the team energized throughout the game. In the paint, Wiznitzer was a force inside that seemed to get his hands on everything came his way." He was just one point shy of a double-double, finishing with nine points and eleven rebounds.
The team still has to play Carolina Day twice, and Rabun Gap and Asheville Christian for the second time, with four games left to play in the conference season.
On Saturday, Knoxville Christian came to the Greenie Dome, and were soundly defeated by the Greenies, 80-66. 6'10" Justice Ajogbor '20 took it to Knoxville Christian to the tune of a career high 20 points and 12 rebounds. Thompson capped a fantastic weekend with another 15 points and a Lecque added this impressive dunk.
It was the team's fifth win in a row heading into a match-up with Norcross (GA), who comes into the game with a record of 16-2. The teams will match up today in Greenville,in the 6:00 PM game of the MLK Classic.
