Greenies Basketball takes two from Asheville School


The Greenies welcomed the Blues of Asheville School on Tuesday evening in a basketball doubleheader. Christ School took both with the JV team winning 43-14 and Varsity winning 71-55.

In the Varsity game, six players scored eight points or more with five Greenies in double figures (DeAnte Green, 15: Kojack Thompson, 13: Trey Austin, Brad Halvorsen and Gabe Wiznitzer, 11). Justice Ajogbor had eight points. At the half, the Greenies led by 11, but led by as many as 20 before finishing with a 16 point victory. The Greenies are now within one game of .500. They are 8-9 on the season and 2-0 in the CAA including a 5-2 since New Years. Asheville School fell to 8-7.

In the JV team also played a solid game, out rebounding Asheville School 34-20. Several players on the team finished with seven rebounds of their own. "The team was all over the court tonight. Our hustle and rebounding really set the tone for the entire game. From player one to seventeen, the positive attitude was contagious," said Head Coach Mallary Clay. "I am really proud of how the team is coming together."
