Lacrosse Wins Back-to-Back State Championships, 18-9

Last year, the Greenies lacrosse team, led by Head Coach Jeff Miles, headed out on the field looking for their first State Championship. 363 days later, Christ School lacrosse was on the same field looking to win back-to-back NCISAA Division 1 State Championships. This time they faced #2-ranked Providence Day School.

With the forecast showing rain, the Greenies scored early and often lead by Senior Captain Hunter Vines' four goals in the first half, the Greenies lead 10-4 at the break. Just one minute in to the third quarter, lightning forced a 47-minute rain delay, but eventually both teams were back on the field.

A brief run by Providence Day made things interesting, bringing the score to 11. That run was stopped by excellent defense from Alex Byron '18, Max Brie '18, Will McNichols '19, Spencer Dyer '19, and James Lilly '19. Beau Hecimovich '20, who has started in goal for Christ School since his 8th grade year, made 13 key saves to keep Providence Day from getting any closer.

Of the second championship, Head Coach Jeff Miles said, "It's a different feeling winning this second one. There was a lot of pressure to get it done last year. This year, we have just been able to enjoy the process, and get ready to play. This is a great group of guys and one of the most enjoyable years of my career."

The Greenies defeated Providence Day School, 18-9.
