Varsity Baseball Wins 8-7
A day after a tight affair against Charlotte Country Day, Greenies baseball hosted a scrappy Asheville Christian Academy team on Wednesday. Up early 5-1 off a two run double from Gabe Blevins '18, Christ School was in control. Max LeCroy '19, who is undefeated on the mound this season, had it going early until saw ACA plate four runners in the fifth to tie it up.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, LeCroy secured a bunt single, and eventually scored on a wild pitch to put the Greenies up 6-5 with a half inning to play, but ACA rallied to take things to extras. The Lions were first to act plating a runner to take a 7-6 lead heading in to the final frame.
Patience behind the plate was the ultimate factor for the Greenies as they managed to have bases loaded with no outs. With the catcher seemingly in position and Jackson Hipp barreling down towards the plate, a close play saw the Greenies tie the game, before having the final and winning run walked in to take the game 8-7.
With the win, the Greenies moved to 6-1 on the season, and 1-0 in conference. They will play South Caldwell at Noon on Saturday in their next contest.
