Basketball Attains Top-10 National Ranking

Going up!

A continual weekly climb through the MaxPreps national rankings for Christ School varsity basketball happened again Tuesday, with a bombshell reserved for New Year’s Eve.

The latest rankings have the Greenies checking in at No. 10. Historically, it is only the second time a Christ School basketball team has achieved a top-10 national ranking (the 2008-09 team was fifth in the final listing put together by Rivals.com).

These Greenies (12-0) began the season ranked 30th by MaxPreps and have moved up each week since then, by virtue of quality wins over teams like Combine Academy, Legacy Early College (S.C.), Davidson Day, and Carmel Christian. Christ School won its two games Friday and Saturday at the John Wall Holiday Invitational in Raleigh by a combined 73 points.

It is the first holiday tournament championship of any kind for the Greenies since 2011. They are outscoring opponents by an average of 24.5 points and have won 21 consecutive games, a streak that began last January.

Three players are averaging double figures in a well-balanced offense – seniors Madden Collins ’25 and Mikey Wilkins ’25 with 14.3 ppg., followed by Dacen Petty ’26 (12.3 ppg.) Another junior, Tyler Jones ’26 (9.9 ppg.), is not far off nor is freshman Mason Collins (7.2 ppg.).

The team is shooting 51 percent from the floor.

Christ School jumps into Carolinas Athletic Association play next week with two games – Tuesday night at Carolina Day (6 p.m.) and Thursday at home against Asheville Christian Academy (6:30).
