No countdown to graduation would feel complete without the grace of a visit from Bishop José.
The Rt. Rev. Bishop José A. McLoughlin came to campus Wednesday, as he does this time each year, for a Holy Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist service in St. Joseph’s Chapel.
Jaxon Grieves ‘27, James Lilly ‘24, and incoming eight grader Thompson Goodrum ‘29 were each part of the confirmation or baptism.
Bishop José spoke to the students and faculty one day before Ascension Day, a holiday on the Christian calendar that celebrates the departure of Jesus from Earth to Heaven. He compared the preparation that the disciples went through to the work that Christ School’s exceptional faculty does with the students.
“I think it is striking and important that we read this and hear those words, because this school has done the same for you,” Bishop José said.
“You have spent countless hours studying, preparing, serving, competing. You have been taught; you have been challenged. You have experienced tragedy and loss, but you have also been cared for and loved, and supported by some of the best faculty around. You have been taught what it means to live as a people of God by your tremendous Chaplains. You have been cared for and taught well by them. You have had an experiential education that has woven through all you do – the importance of service, encouraging you to live lives of consequence as you use your gifts, talents, and passions to meet the challenges and the opportunities that this world presents.”
