Calvin Williams ’24 was an indispensable player that Christ School could put just about anywhere.

Union College saw the same thing.

Calvin will be staying in his home state of New York to play his college football, he announced Sunday.

“For years, I’ve had aspirations to play sports at the collegiate level, and now I have been blessed to do so,” Calvin said in his social media post.

“This is nothing short of a blessing since where I come from very few people make it out.”

Calvin thanked his mother, his coaches, and Christ School “for giving me a chance to better my life and become the man I am today.”

Calvin began the 2023 season listed as a running back/linebacker but the 6-foot-1, 220-pound senior ended up making the All-Western Football Conference team as a tight end. He led the Greenies in receptions (23) and receiving yards (351), while catching three touchdowns.

Off the field, Calvin is a Proctor in Harris House, an AP Scholar, and sings in the Choir. He has also been part of Christ School’s basketball and track programs.

Of the 18 Greenie seniors who have made college sports commitments now, eight are specializing in football at the next level – Calvin, Kaden Brown ’24 (Wofford), Khalil Conley ’24 (North Carolina), T.J. Hamilton ‘24 (Cornell), Josh Harrison ’24 (Wake Forest), Jakob Iwanek ’24 (Maryville), Cayden Jones ’24 (Alabama), and Bruce White ’24 (N.C. State).
