Asheville School Week has always been extra meaningful to Charlie Bednar ’22.
What better time to make a major decision concerning his future?
The 6-foot-3, 230-pound defensive end verbally committed to play college football for The Citadel on Wednesday.
I’m excited to announce my verbal commitment to play D1 football at @CitadelFootbal. I would like to thank my family, teammates, and coaches for supporting me along the way. @Coach_Rucker @CoachChadWalker @greeniesports @christschool_fb pic.twitter.com/dJbWyCmo6F

Charlie is one of 11 seniors for Christ School (3-4), which concludes the regular season Saturday at Asheville School. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
Charlie is the Prefect in Gardner House and has a unique connection to Christ School’s biggest rival – both of his parents, Chris and Sarah, are staff members at Asheville School. Once he arrives in Charleston, S.C., Charlie will be reunited with former Greenie teammate Ian Adams ’21, a freshman lineman for the Bulldogs.
