City of Asheville Lifts Boil Water Notice

Call it an Asheville School Week miracle or an extra blessing in time for Wednesday’s Thanksgiving luncheon.

The City of Asheville Water Resources Department has lifted its boil water notice, seven weeks after Hurricane Helene. Students, faculty and staff, and other visitors to campus can now safely consume tap water without any precautions.

More than 100,000 residents in the Asheville and Buncombe County area have been without potable water since the storm. Christ School was fortunate to have water service restored on October 2, making it the first utility to return over an extended Fall Break.

While regular testing of our water supply found no harmful contaminants, the school followed the guidance of state and local authorities in adhering to the boil notice.

The school was able to get through this interim period thanks to the generosity of families and friends who donated bottled water. We also want to acknowledge and thank the staff of SAGE Dining for their efforts. SAGE has safely prepared three hot meals a day and has also been able to boil water for after-school sports and other activities.

We look forward to a full return to normal operation these next four days and making the most of this time together, including Wednesday’s special Thanksgiving holiday meal by advisory in Stolz Dining Hall and “The Game” on Friday night.
God Bless and Go Green.
