A New York Times best-selling author, an Emmy-nominated filmmaker/musical virtuoso, and now a highly prolific travel writer with a message of sustainability.
The scope of the Cooper Living Arts Series can be seen in its 2024-25 lineup which has been equal parts stimulating and varied.
Alex Crevar was on campus Thursday and Friday. He has written for a wide variety of publications, including the New York Times, National Geographic, Outside, Lonely Planet, Adventure Cyclist, The Washington Post, Paste, and Bicycling. His opinion on what he calls “responsible tourism” is often sought by the media and he speaks at conferences and universities on best practices within the tourism industry.
Crevar sat in on two days of classes at Christ School, in addition to visiting with the new Global Studies Program and boys in the Outdoor Program.
His message to the students and faculty Friday in assembly was two-fold: be a good global citizen no matter where your travels take you and do what you truly love.
Now in its third year, the Cooper Living Arts Series is made possible by the generosity of alumnus Edwin Cooper ’81, P’19, P’23 and his wife, Andrea P’19, P’23. In addition to visiting artists for performances and workshops, the Cooper Living Arts Series has provided entertainment for school functions such as Alumni Weekend and December’s formal holiday dinner.
