Jackson Burch ’22, Rocky Hansen ‘23, and Dawson Reeves ‘24 surged to the front early on Tuesday, dictating the pace for a small pack of Christ School runners.
It was the only tactical move that needed to be made.
The Greenies are as top-loaded as they have ever been and showed it in the season's first home meet. They defeated two other Carolinas Athletic Association cross country teams, Asheville School and Asheville Christian Academy, with a perfect score of 15 points.
Individually, Jackson was the first Greenie to finish (17 minutes 30.50 seconds), followed by Rocky (17:31.50), and Dawson (17:32.20). The three did not fully exert themselves as they are saving up for Saturday’s Eye-Opener Meet in Spartanburg, S.C. The two other scoring runners for Christ School were Jack Cross ‘22 (fourth place, 17:52.30) and Luke Parrish ‘24 (fifth, 18:42.40). Eyob Gill ‘24 (sixth place, 18:57.70) and Kahzi Sealey ‘23 (10th, 19:37.70) placed in the top-10 as well.
In all, there were 27 Greenies who raced Tuesday. Christ School is scheduled to host two more meets this season – the Sept. 28 CAA Preview Meet and the Oct. 13 CAA Championship Meet.
