Not many basketball teams would have been able to recover from an 0-7 start to the season. Much less go on to win a conference championship and reach the quarterfinals of the state playoffs.
Not many basketball teams in the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association had two players the caliber of De’Ante Green ’22 and Justice Ajogbor ’20.
Christ School has its most all-state basketball players in seven years thanks to De’Ante and Justice making the cut for the NCISAA 4-A division. The full all-state list will be announced after the completion of next weekend’s NCISAA 4-A tournament in Charlotte.
Not only those within the Greenie program, but college coaches and opponents can agree that De’Ante and Justice are a special pair.
De’Ante averaged a team-high 14.8 points per game to go along with 4.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists. The forward is easily one of the most coveted underclassmen in North Carolina, with the University of Tennessee and Virginia Tech becoming the latest two major Division I colleges to offer scholarships.
Justice is the highest-rated recruit in Harvard University history. As the Greenies’ center, he put up 12.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game.
Christ School (13-13) lost in Saturday’s third round of the NCISAA 4-A playoffs at Charlotte Latin, 71-58. Since the Carolinas Athletic Association championship game at Rabun Gap (Ga.) was snowed-out on Feb. 8, CAA coaches voted to make the Greenies and Rabun Gap co-champions of the league. De’Ante and Justice were joined on the all-conference team by junior point guard Drew Redmond ’21, with Justice being named CAA Player of the Year.
The last time that Christ School had multiple all-state players in the same season was 2012-13 (Jaylen Allen ’13 and Shannon Hale ’13).
