Faculty and Staff Say Thank You to Mary Dillon

A curtain call 23 years in the making for the queen of Christ School theater not to mention an invaluable contributor to the English Department.

Dr. Jenkins and the women of the faculty and staff threw a retirement luncheon Wednesday for a well-deserved guest of honor, Mary Dillon.

There is a reason many of the seniors lingered to pay their proper respects to Mrs. Dillon in the traditional post-graduation hugs on May 19.

Mrs. Dillon joined the faculty and staff starting with the 2001-02 academic year and directed 41 plays during that time. The Broadcast Journalism course was borne out of her decision to pivot to more video starting with the 2018-19 school year. Mrs. Dillon taught World Literature, Honors World Literature, Journalism, Film as Literature, and English as a Second Language (ESL). She was the faculty advisor for The Stump student news organization, which included a print newspaper as well as streamed newscasts.

Mrs. Dillon is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas and the Bread Loaf School of English at Middlebury College. She was active in the Asheville theater community as the director of productions for the Montford Park Players.
