Christ School was the last football team to beat NCISAA Division I champion Charlotte Providence Day and the Greenies proved their worthiness on other occasions, too.
Their representation on this year’s NCISAA all-state team is not lacking.
Five players from Christ School were chosen by the panel of coaches – Bryce Sain ’22 (running back), Eli Brasher ’22 (offensive line), and Cayden Jones ‘24 (defensive back) made the first team, Charlie Bednar ’22 (offensive line) is on the second team, and Quinton Cancel ‘23 (defensive) is an honorable mention selection.
The Greenies went 4-5 under first-year coach Chad Walker, with notable wins over Providence Day (25-21 on Sept. 24) and Charlotte Christian (34-31 on Oct. 22). After going to halftime tied at 17-all last month, Christ School blew away Asheville School, 60-24, for its 10th consecutive win in the oldest rivalry in the Carolinas.
Bryce and Eli have committed to play college football for Furman University and Charlie plans to sign with The Citadel.
