There was no sophomore slump for Christ School’s top swimmer.
Frank Howden ’22 repeated as the Carolinas Athletic Association champion in the 100-yard breaststroke. And for the second time in his career, Frank represents the Greenies on this year’s Asheville Citizen-Times All-Western North Carolina Team.
Christ School mother Sarah Bednar P’22 was also announced as the All-WNC Coach of the Year on Thursday, having led the Asheville School boys to an undefeated NCISAA Division II state-championship season.
Frank successfully defended his conference title in the 100-yard breaststroke on Jan. 29 with a CAA meet record time of 1 minute, 3.03 seconds. He was the conference runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.31) and swam a leg on Christ School’s second-place 400-yard freestyle relay (3:40.88).
At the state meet, Frank placed fourth among NCISAA Division I swimmers in the 200-yard individual medley (1:58.51) and sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.51).
