Four basketball teams are the most the Christ School Athletic Department has ever offered. The motivation is to not only grow the program from within but offer boys more opportunity for playing time at their appropriate skill level.
There is no debating the success of the rollout when it comes to wins and losses. Together, the Varsity, Junior Varsity, Freshman, and Middle School teams have a combined record of 19-1.
The Middle School Greenies (4-0) stayed unbeaten with Tuesday's 32-28 win over visiting Carolina Day that was close throughout. The score was 17-16 in Christ School’s favor at halftime.
Thomas Vickery ’27 drew multiple defenders, yet still led the team with 15 points. Other scorers were Alec Dzialo ’27 (six points), Tyler Melvin ’27 (four), Sky Lamb ’27 (three), Palo Miles ’27 (two), and Hoge Reynolds ’27 (two).
JV Greenies 55, J.L. Mann 42
There were head taps for everyone on the Christ School bench when Brewer Nitcher ’25 threw down a second-half dunk. By that time, the JV Greenies (5-1) were well on the way to their fifth win.
Brewer (10 points) was third in scoring behind Will Sherrill ‘25 (12 points) and Calvin Williams ’24 (12) Tuesday night in Greenville, S.C.
The rest of Christ School’s scorers were Jimmy Jones ‘25 (nine points), Wells Edwards ’25 (four), Henry Chapman ’25 (three), James DeYoung ‘26 (two), Fallou Faye ‘25 (two), and Buck Duggins ‘25 (one).
