Both from an individual and team perspective, NCISAA Division I football elevates its stature every year.

Which means that in 2022 it takes more than ever to be considered among the best of the best. Christ School defenders Cayden Jones ’24, Josh Harrison ’24, and Zack Myers ’23 have each been voted by coaches to the NCISAA Division I all-state team.

The Greenies (6-6) were a defensive-oriented team this season under new coordinator George Johnson, an NFL veteran who played defensive end in the league for nine years.

All three Greenies are on a trajectory to have bright futures beyond high school football as well.

Josh had a breakout year as an edge rusher for Christ School with 58 tackles (14 for a loss), a team-high 11 sacks, and 13 quarterback hurries.

Cayden and Zack both had their seasons cut short by injuries after eight games, but not before making an impact.

Cayden is a linebacker who made 50 tackles, two sacks, and two fumble recoveries. His 78-yard return of the opening kickoff set the tone for a 40-7 win over Legion Collegiate on Sept. 9.

Zack plans to enroll early at N.C. State University and made the all-state team as a defensive back. He was credited with 25 tackles, two interceptions, and five pass deflections. On offense, he hauled in 25 receptions for 636 yards and eight touchdowns.
