Christ School teams won a Carolinas Athletic Association conference championship in every spring sport, success that has been justly rewarded with the release of the Asheville Citizen-Times’ annual All-Western North Carolina teams.
First up, Keyvaun Cobb ’19, Aydan White ’20, and Kevin Snyder ’19 represent the two-time defending state champion Greenies on the newspaper’s Track & Field team. Randy Ashley was named the All-WNC Coach of the Year. Andrew Hammel ‘20, Joseph Visconti ‘20, Eddy Sherman ‘19, Trey Austin ’19, Miles Gardner ‘20, Ray Faison ‘20, and Drew Redmond ‘21 received honorable mention status.
Christ School was a state runner-up in golf with Cameron Akers ‘20 being named the Citizen-Times’ Player of the Year. He is joined on the first team by Steve Pappas ‘20, while Andrew Graham ‘21, Henry Muller ‘20, and Drake Oliver ‘19 were honorable mention selections.
Xander Barber ’23 made the All-WNC Tennis team as an eighth grader, while William Saye ‘20 was honorable mention.
Finally, the All-WNC Baseball team includes the following Greenies: Chad Treadway ’19 (first team), Max LeCroy ’19 (first team), Jack Sutton ‘20 (honorable mention), Mac Gortney ‘19 (honorable mention), Hunter Macomber ‘19 (honorable mention), and Mickey Meguiar ‘21 (honorable mention).
Christ School lacrosse capped a 21-2 season with its third consecutive N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association state championship on May 18. The Citizen-Times does not publish an All-WNC Lacrosse team due to the low number of schools that play the sport in its coverage area.
