Christ School cross country runners have turned their attention to track at the moment, but their efforts from 2020 have not gone unnoticed in local media.
The Greenies are tied for the most runners (two) on the Asheville Citizen-Times All-Western North Carolina Team, which was announced Thursday. Dawson Reeves ’24 and Jackson Burch ’22 are first-time honorees, while Rocky Hansen ‘23 received honorable mention.
Dawson was previously named to the HighSchoolOT all-state team in February. The freshman from Canton, N.C., was last fall's Carolinas Athletic Association individual champion with a time of 16:34.06 run on Christ School’s home course. He would go on to place fifth at the NCISAA 4-A state meet (16:19.10) to earn all-state recognition. Dawson was second in a CAA regular season meet at Asheville Christian Academy (16:47.61). He came in fourth in the Charlotte Running Company Cross Country Series Race #5 (16:30).
Jackson hails from Hayesville, N.C., and was the CAA individual runner-up with a time of 16:53.62. He was ninth at the NCISAA 4-A state meet (16:44.30), good enough for all-state honors. Jackson placed third in a CAA regular season meet at Asheville Christian Academy (17:10.02). He won the Charlotte Running Company Cross Country Series Race #5 on the McAlpine Greenway Park course (16:12).
Rocky’s season was cut short by an injury, but not before he won a CAA regular-season meet at Asheville Christian Academy (16:03.84). The sophomore from Hendersonville, N.C., was the runner-up in the Charlotte Running Company Cross Country Series Race #5 (16:18).
