Greenies Thwart ACA Upset Hopes on the Road

Four games in six days will be a grind.

Christ School varsity basketball is on the brink of a third consecutive 20-win season and another Carolinas Athletic Association championship after the first step of the gauntlet.

American University recruit Madden Collins ’25 (14 points), Thomas Vickery ’27 (11), and Mason Collins ’28 (11) reached double figures, with Mikey Wilkins ’25 (nine) and Dacen Petty ’26 (nine) not far behind in Tuesday’s 59-47 win at Asheville Christian Academy.

William Robinson ’26 added five points for the Greenies (19-1, 6-0), who predictably had their hands full on the road against the second-place team in the CAA. Christ School has still won all its conference games by double digits.

The score was 32-30 in the Greenies' favor about midway through the third quarter Tuesday when Madden buried a 3-pointer to spark a 9-0 run. It was all the breathing room that the team needed. They had beaten the Lions (14-5, 4-2) by 51 points when the two teams met earlier this season in Arden.

The Greenies travel to Rabun Gap on Thursday and then head to the Washington, D.C., area this weekend for games at Friendship Tech Prep Academy (Saturday) and Paul VI (Sunday).
