Since being established six years ago, the Asheville City Soccer Club has captured the imagination and devotion of sports fans in western North Carolina.
Guy Campbell ’00, P’24, P'26 has been involved from the very beginning.
Coach Campbell helped get the Asheville City Academy youth program off the ground as an assistant coach. He even played defender for the men’s team in a 2019 friendly.
This upcoming season will see Coach Campbell elevated to assistant coach for the men, Asheville City announced Thursday.
“Guy knows far more than me about this town. He is loved and respected in the city of Asheville for caring so much and about so many,” Asheville City head coach Scott Wells said. “One of the things I love about Guy is his passion for developing the long-term success of the Asheville community, he has shown that day-in and day-out. Myself and Asheville are very lucky to have him.”
Coach Campbell has coached at Christ School since 2010.
Asheville City’s season begins Friday night with a 7:30 p.m. friendly against the N.C. Fusion. The team plays its home games at Memorial Stadium, which is just outside downtown Asheville.
