Emotions were soaring in the Christ School locker room Thursday night and rightfully so.
The JV Greenies ended the 2020-21 season on a high note, saving some of their best basketball yet for a 70-35 home win over Bethel Christian Academy's varsity team.
Fallou Faye ’25 scored nine of his game-high 15 points in the second half. The eighth grader from New York, N.Y. was joined in double figures by Blake Ragsdale ’24 (13 points) and Sam Chandler ’22 (11). Jamal Hutchinson ’23 and Tony Murphy ’24 added eight points apiece.
The rest of the scorers were Brewer Nitcher ’25 (six points), Andre Caleca ’23 (four), Eyob Gill ’24 (three), and Kennedy Achugamonu ’22 (two).
Christ School (2-5) raced out a 19-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and had increased its advantage to 37-13 at halftime.
Thursday’s victory means the Greenies won back-to-back games (they defeated Asheville Christian Academy, 50-46 last week) after an 0-5 start. First-year coach Jesse Breite presided over a young team with only four players who were not eighth graders or freshmen.
