Kickoff to Alumni Weekend, Return to Pingree Part of Friday's Events

In observance of “College Spirit Day,” the College Guidance Office asked Christ School's seniors to wear shirts for the universities they plan to attend after graduation.

Friday was no ordinary end to the week because this is no ordinary week at Christ School.

Early arrivals for Alumni Weekend were able to join the students and faculty for the first morning Assembly inside Pingree Auditorium in months. Pingree has undergone structural repairs since the Fall Semester, which meant that all large gatherings had to be held outdoors or in St. Joseph’s Chapel.

Assembly included a dedication of the 2022 Angelus yearbook to first-year Head of School Dr. Sean Jenkins. An abbreviated version of the dedication reads as follows:

“In honor of the theme of this year’s Angelus, “A New Chapter,” it is fitting that its dedication pays tribute to the author of this new phase in Christ School’s history. The Class of 2022 honors the man who moved his family to the mountains of Western North Carolina to make an impact on young people as Christ School’s 14th Head of School. This graduate of McCallie School and champion of all-boys education brought his youthful energy and optimism to our campus, steered us through the end of a pandemic, and created new traditions and novel ways to celebrate our brotherhood. Throughout the year, his family (wife, Lawson, and sons, Coleman and Jack), welcomed students into their home to celebrate important milestones and holidays. Christ School is excited to enter a new phase with this leader as our captain and commander.”
