Kishi Bashi Kicks Off 2025 Portion of Cooper Living Arts Series

As advertised, Kishi Bashi was a one-man musical tour de force on Wednesday morning.

The multi-instrumentalist entertained for more than an hour, filling Pingree Auditorium with his unique sound which mixes improvisation and sheer wizardry. He was backed for portions of the performance by members of the Christ School community.

Kishi Bashi’s visit to campus was part of the Cooper Living Arts Series, now in its third year and made possible by the generosity of alumnus Edwin Cooper ’81, P’19, P’23 and his wife, Andrea P’19, P’23.

A native of Seattle, Kishi Bashi has released seven albums (five in the studio and two live), including 2019's "Omoiyari," which accompanied a documentary film of the same name. He has toured the U.S. extensively and played such major festivals as South by Southwest and Austin City Limits. His music has been used as the soundtrack for a variety of TV series.
