Leading Christ School basketball to state championships as a sophomore, junior, and senior was merely a warm-up for Mason Plumlee ’09.

The Greenie would go on to help Duke University win a national championship in 2010. And now at 10 years and counting, he has enjoyed the longest NBA career of any high school player to ever come from the mountains of western North Carolina.

Mason has announced on his personal website that he is giving back to Christ School with the creation of this summer’s Plumlee Basketball Camp. The camp will be June 26-28 in the Greenie Dome – the site of many high points for Mason as well as his brothers Miles ’08 and Marshall ’11 – and is open to boys ages 11-18.

There are overnight and day camp options available at this link

“When my brothers and I were younger, we left our small town in Indiana each summer to attend camps across the country that opened our eyes to new people, new experiences, and new ways to learn and develop our love for the game of basketball,” Mason said.

“Similarly, when we went to boarding school at Christ School, we never could have imagined the doors that would open for us athletically, academically, and globally. I wanted to create a camp at my alma mater that combines everything I love about those experiences. It isn’t about exposure, getting recruited, or having to impress anyone. It’s about hard work, improvement, meeting people from other places, and playing for the love of the game.”

Proceeds from the Plumlee Basketball Camp will benefit scholarship programs at Christ School. No interested camp participant will be denied due to their finances and scholarships are available.
