Christ School basketball’s first state-championship season broke the levee in 2005.
Since then, there has been a steady flow of ACC recruits from the program – 10 to be exact after Mikey Wilkins ’25 committed to N.C. State University this weekend.
Mikey’s list of competing Division I offers was lengthy, but he gave his pledge to Coach Kevin Keatts and the Wolfpack after an official recruiting visit to Raleigh.
The 6-foot-8 power forward from Rutherfordton, N.C., averaged 13.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game for the back-to-back NCISAA 4-A state champion Greenies (26-5) last season. He had 17 points and nine rebounds in the state-championship game, a 56-45 win over Charlotte Providence Day on Feb. 25 in Raleigh.
Mikey shared 2023-24 Carolinas Athletic Association Player of the Year honors with his cousin, senior point guard Keenan Wilkins ’24, and was selected to the 4-A all-state team.
Mikey becomes the ninth senior from Christ School’s Class of 2025 to make a college sports commitment.
His other scholarship offers included (in alphabetical order): Appalachian State, Georgetown, Georgia, High Point, Illinois, Iowa, LSU, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Morgan State, Seton Hall, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Illinois, Villanova, Virginia Commonwealth, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia.
