ORLANDO - Like any good champion, Mikey Wilkins ’25 is going to Disney.
The rising senior from Rutherfordton, N.C., has been invited to the prestigious National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) Top 100 Camp which begins Saturday at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World.
As the name implies, the NBPA Top 100 Camp is limited to 100 hand-picked high school players each year. Their week is filled with pro combine drills, passing, shooting, dribbling exercises and team scrimmages as well as interactive education sessions led by industry experts and current and former NBA players.
Since its inception in 1994, over 300 players from the Top 100 camp have gone on to have careers in the NBA, including Christ School alumni Miles Plumlee '08 and Mason Plumlee '09.
Mikey is a 6-foot-8 power forward who averaged 13.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game for the back-to-back NCISAA 4-A state champion Greenies (26-5) last winter. He had 17 points and nine rebounds in the state-championship game, a 56-45 win over Charlotte Providence Day on Feb. 25 in Raleigh.
Mikey was selected to the NCISAA 4-A all-state and HighSchoolOT all-state teams. He was Christ School’s team MVP and the co-player of the year in the Carolinas Athletic Association.
Mikey continues to rack up Power 5 scholarship offers with two of the latest ones coming from Clemson and Georgia.
