Looking back, the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 4-A state meet was a microcosm of the season for Christ School cross country.
Rocky Hansen ‘23, Dawson Reeves ‘24, and Jackson Burch ‘22 pushed one another every day in practice and races to run as far and as fast as they possibly could.
The trio took first, second, and third place at the NCISAA 4-A meet and are still receiving accolades for the Greenies’ first-ever team state championship in the sport, this time from local media.
The Asheville Citizen-Times has announced its All-WNC Cross Country Team with Rocky earning the Runner of the Year award, while Dawson and Jackson landed spots on the first team. Jack Cross ’22, Eyob Gill ’24, Luke Parrish ’24, and Kahzi Sealey ’23 were honorable mention selections.
Christ School’s Randy Ashley was named Coach of the Year, which comes less than a month after he was announced as the newspaper’s Coach of the Year for the 2021 outdoor track season. The Citizen Times covers close to 40 high schools.
The All-WNC team is in Friday’s print edition of the Citizen-Times and available for viewing online with a subscription at this link.
