New Coach, Same Dominance for Greenie Golf

Biltmore Forest Country Club and Christ School are roughly 8 miles apart. However, they might as well have been in two different worlds Monday.

The golf course was everything campus was not – calm and quiet – on the same afternoon as a Head of School Holiday. Led by co-individual medalist Hank Bradley ‘27 (38), the Greenies kept rolling through the Carolinas Athletic Association with a team score of 156 in a 9-hole match, followed by Asheville Christian Academy (158), Carolina Day (171), and Asheville School (186).

Hank is the son of first-year coach Gorham Bradley P’27, whose leadership is allowing the program to again set the standard in local high school golf this spring, as the Greenies have done for much of the past 25 years.

Christ School practices and hosts matches at BFCC.

More individual results from Monday were Henry Wilhelm ‘25 (39), David Gaines ‘26 (39), Will Henry ‘26 (40), Levi Ellison ‘27 (40), and Collier Lilly ’25 (42). Wait McCormick ‘26 (40), Tyler Brouse ‘25 (41), TK Aul ‘27 (41), Brody Ballard ‘25 (45), and Colin Breiter ‘25 (52) played as unattached individuals.

Wind played havoc with shots Tuesday, and yet the Greenies still matched their best 18-hole team score of the season (302) in a match against Carolina Day. Hank was the medalist (71) at Hendersonville Country Club, followed by Collier (76), Levi (77), Will (78), David (78), and Henry (86). Other competitors were Wake (85) and Tyler (100).

The history of Christ School’s golf program includes three state-championship teams, five state runner-up teams, and three state-champion individuals (Sean Edey '05, Jeff Krieger '12, and Jonathan Rector '15). The Greenies have won 16 consecutive conference tournaments in the CAA.
