The Raleigh family is considered baseball royalty in western North Carolina.
Cal Raleigh, 24, was called up to the Seattle Mariners in July, becoming the area’s youngest active player in the majors. The promotion was a proud moment for his father, Todd, who has been an NCAA Division I head coach at two colleges not far from Christ School – Tennessee (2008-11) and Western Carolina (2000-07).
Both men were on campus Wednesday, a nice October treat for the Greenies, who are in the middle of their offseason workouts.
Moving forward, Todd Raleigh will be lending his expertise to the Christ School program as an assistant coach for the 2022 season. His nephew, Brody '23, is a first-year Greenie who began his high school playing career in New York. Brody was part of the Maine-Endwell (N.Y.) team that won the 2016 Little League World Series.
