Christ School families:
Thank you for your patience and understanding between updates these past 13 days. In the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Helene, we were able to communicate with little more than a faint wireless signal at the Shell Station.
We promise you this update has been worth waiting for – power has been restored to campus!
Since two critical pieces of campus infrastructure are back in working order – power and water service – we feel comfortable in sharing the school’s plans to resume operation.
Families can expect an e-mail from Dean of Students Drew Hyche ‘94 later today regarding flights and shuttles.
Boarding students should report back to campus, Monday, October 14, as scheduled. Classes, athletic practices, and other after-school activities will then resume the following day, October 15, at their normal times. Athletic Director Josh Coley is working with individual teams to determine makeup dates for games and meets.
Our academic office knows the missed class time has had an adverse effect on the boys and has finalized three makeup dates for the Fall Semester with more details to come.
- Saturday, October 19.
- Monday, December 2.
- Saturday, December 7.
Additional makeup dates will be announced as soon as possible to help families with planning.
As of this writing, there remains a local Spectrum outage that affects our campus-wide wireless network. We are hopeful that service will return soon as recent days have seen a heavy presence of Spectrum trucks near Christ School.
Please reach out if you have any questions and we will look forward to being Greenie Strong together next week.
