Some people check a bulky suitcase before going through TSA or lug a small bag on board with them.

Scott Carter ’26 shows up at the airport with a snowboard under his arm.

The Christ School freshman just returned from the USA Snowboard and Freeski Association national competition held in Copper Mountain, Colo.

Representing the Flipside Boardshop from his hometown of Asheville, Scott scored 385 points Monday in the Rail Jam Boys 11-14 division. He tied for 25th place out of 73 snowboarders and was one of the best from North Carolina.

Scott competes year-round, overcoming the fact that the Asheville area gets little to no natural snow compared to the popular training grounds of other snowboarders out west.

Congratulations, Scott!
