Big things are expected out of Sidney Gibbs ‘19 this football season.
That is nothing new. And one of the most gifted backs to ever play for Christ School delivers far more often than not.
Sidney was named to the Preseason All-CIAA team for the third consecutive year Thursday. He enters his senior season for Shaw University with 2,686 career yards, putting Sidney within striking distance of the school record (3,505).
Last year, Sidney ranked third in the CIAA with 714 rushing yards and was fourth in touchdowns (eight).
Sidney still holds the Christ School record for single-season rushing (2,029 yards). A 51-yard touchdown run from the 2017 season was immortalized when it was replayed on ESPN SportsCenter. The clip from the Christ School Broadcast Network went viral with more than 3 million views on Instagram.
